Hey mamas!

I hope all is well with you!! This week I really want to talk about ways we can keep our kids quiet, controlled and entertained during our classes. As many of you mamas may know, I am a mom of one very active and vivacious little boy. He's two years old and two handfuls, but even still he's amazing!

I have been teaching and working online way before Caleb was born and continued to do even after he came on the scene. Like most parents, working for me is a necessity (and a joy! I would work even if I didn't have to) and supporting my family is a priority for me.  So I knew from the get-go that I needed to train Caleb around my work schedule for this whole thing to work.

In the beginning, I worked mostly at nights, so I made sure that Caleb was on a solid sleep schedule and that he was in bed by 7 every single night. Thereafter, I would work from around 9 pm until. Eventually, that schedule became a bit tough for me as I would be extremely tired at night after a long day taking care of my son and other responsibilities. So I decided to cut down my nightly hours and work more hours in the morning. I had hoped that Caleb would at least sleep until 9:00 am, basically waking up when I'm finished my hours, but my son is an early riser and would not usually sleep past 6:30 am. So I had to come up with a plan to keep him entertained during my classes. I've been successful in doing this and I'm so happy to share some of my ideas with you guys.

Tip #1

Educational games and activities

- I've personally found that educational games that can be played on the tablet keep young kids occupied for an extensive period of time. My son has grown to love ABCmouse and if I give him a chance, it would be busy with that app for hours. I would definitely recommend this app to all parents of young kids. The kids learn everything from their ABC's to numbers to reading to matching shapes and colors all while you are busy working. If you guys are interested in downloading this app for your kids, check out the link below:

Tip #2

Fun TV shows and a snack.

Another thing I've also done with my son is put him to watch his favorite TV shows with a healthy snack while I'm teaching. He loves apples and grapes with an episode or two of Paw Patrol or Peppa Pig.

Tip #3

Fun books, crayons and drawing paper.

When all else fails, I've found that interactive books, pop-up books, and simple drawing and coloring can keep kids quite happy and occupied. My son loves the "Bright Baby" books! I've used these books to successfully help my son learn how to recognize and read words, learn different animals and their sounds, as well as ABC's and numbers. I'll link some of the books that were personally helpful to my son and I. (P.S I also use in the pictures in the books to teach various things during my classes! *wink wink*)

The bottom line is, nowadays, there are many ways you can keep the kids entertained during your classes, but it's very important to teach them from a young age to keep the noise down while mommy is working, once they understand that concept, all you need to do is your best to make sure they are happy, fed and content!

I wish all of you mamas the best!!!

With all my love,

Becky
