Hey Mamas!

I hope all of you are doing great! This week I will be talking about my top picks for the highest paying ESL companies in the industry. I recognize that there are a lot of stay-at-home moms and moms who are working outside of the home but would prefer to work from home and still make a decent salary. However, starting out in the ESL industry can be quite daunting and sometimes even overwhelming. There can be many roadblocks and lots of rejection, but don’t let that deter you! If you’re now starting out in the industry and don’t know where to start, or if you’re looking to switch companies I hope this article helps you. So without any further ado, let’s get started!

Please note: All figures are quoted in US dollars.

31ABC-

Pay per hour:  $16- $26 (Please note: You will start at $16 per hour during your two months probation and then your rate will be increased to $18 per hour + bonuses. If you perform well, after 1,000 classes taught, you will be entitled to a raise of $20, $23, $25, to $28. )

Class Size  1 or 2 students

Student Ages: 4-12

Class Schedule: 6pm-10pm - Beijing Time

Nationalities: North American and UK

Minimum hours: 6 hours and must commit to at least a 6-month contract.

A Bachelors degree is preferred but not necessary if you have extensive teaching experience. TEFL, TESOL or TESL certificates, teaching experience with kids is a plus. You will have the same students 3 days a week, either Monday-Wednesday -Friday or Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday for one year. Which means very stable teaching hours and income for teachers.

My personal thoughts: What I specifically like about this company is the fact that you are guaranteed classes and the same students each week, which means a stable income. There are many opportunities to grow and get raises.

How To Apply:  If you would like more information or would like to apply, please send your questions, CV and introduction video to teacherbecky94@gmail.com. I will also happily hold your hand and coach you through the hiring process.

Lime English -

Pay per hour: $18- $25

Student Ages: 5- 12

Class Schedule: 7pm- 9:30pm - Beijing Time

Nationalities - North American

You must have a Bachelors degree or above (Education, Literature, English, or history degree preferred). TESOL/ TEFL preferred. You should be creative and energetic. K12 teaching experience in Language Arts (Writing, Reading, Literature, Creative Writing) is highly desirable. You should be willing to commit to a regular weekly working schedule.

My personal thoughts: This is a relatively new company and not very popular on the ESL teachers market yet, so this could potentially be a good opportunity for you to get a stable income with stable classes.

How To Apply:

If you would like further information or would like to apply, please send your questions, CVs and introduction video to  teacherbecky94@gmail.com.

ClassTalk

Pay per hour: $25- $30 per 40-minute class

Class time: 8am-6pm (Beijing time) and must commit to a semester

Nationalities: North American – Teaching position | All – Curriculum Design

You must have a Bachelors degree and an active K-12 teaching license for the teaching position. You must stand to teach and they aren’t looking for entertainers, they want professional teachers. In your background, you must have a whiteboard and everything else in your background must be clear.

How To Apply:

If you’re applying for the teaching position please note that you must have an active K-12 teaching license. Please send your CV, copy of Bachelors degree and K-12 teaching license to teacherbecky94@gmail.com

If you're applying for the curriculum design position, please send your CV and an introduction video talking about your qualifications and experience in curriculum/lesson plan design  to teacherbecky94@gmail.com

Please state it clearly in your email which position at ClassTalk you are applying for.

My personal thoughts: This company has partnerships with schools in China so you will be teaching an actual classroom full of children. What I like about this company is the fact that you will be guaranteed classes and a stable income.

BlingABC –

Pay per hour: $21- $38

Class Size: 3 students for regular classes, up to 25 for large group classes

Student Ages: Elementary & Junior (age 5-15)

Class Schedule: 6pm- 9pm - Beijing Time

Nationalities: North American, UK, Australian, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, Native All

You must have a Bachelors degree or above and a TEFL certification. You must work a minimum of 8 hours per week and have at least one year’s teaching experience.

My personal thoughts: Overall, from what I’ve heard of this company, it seems to be a good company and the pay is excellent but getting the full potential of what you can earn is heavily contingent on performance (as is with most companies, to be honest). I’ve heard some teachers complain about classes being slow but I’d honestly try it out for yourself and see because from my research it seems that some teachers would like more classes but others are fully booked.

VIPKID –

Pay per hour: $22

Students ages: 5-15

Class schedule: 6pm-12am - Beijing Time

Nationalities: North American

Minimum hours7.5

You must have a Bachelors degree but a TEFL isn’t necessary apparently.

My personal thoughts: I’ve heard good things about VIPKID, however, with the classpocalypse, some teachers were complaining about not getting booked. The thing is with VIPKID is that you have a market yourself. So once you can show that you are the fun, outgoing teacher that has really interesting classes, then you should do great!

SAYABC –

Pay per hour: $15 per class + $36 for a completed unit (9 classes or $4 per homeroom class)

Student ages: 5- 13

Class schedule: 6pm- 9:10pm Beijing Time

Nationalities: Native ALL | Non-Natives must have a native level of English

You must have a Bachelors degree, TEFL and some teaching experience.

My personal thoughts: Although a separate company, SAYABC is owned by VIPKID so you can be confident that SAYABC isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Lately, there have been some changes at SAYABC with regard to how their classes and students are divided up. This has caused some teachers to be quite upset and even some losing their classes. However, SAYABC is working to sort out any hiccups in their system. My problem with SAYABC is the fact that they have very strict cancellation policies, and even if you have a genuine emergency like the power going out or there’s literally a tornado outside your house and you have to cancel a class, it would be a negative mark on your record. So if you have reliable wired internet and power outages in your area are rare then go for it!

Tutor Supply-

Pay per hour: $22- $32

Nationalities: North America, UK, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa | From what I've read, Non-Natives are welcomed to apply but you must have a background check performed in the UK.

I don’t believe a degree is a requirement but it’s great if you have the QTS (Qualified Teacher Status – specific to the UK) otherwise, from doing some digging, a TEFL should suffice.

My personal thoughtsThis school isn't popular but from what I've read, the teachers who work for them seems satisfied and the pay is great. It's definitely worth a shot!

Fast School-

Student ages: 3-15

Minimum hours: 2.5 hours

Nationalities: North America, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa

You must have a Bachelor’s degree, TEFL\TESOL\CELTA and teaching experience. It’s important that you use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi during class.

My personal thoughts: I don’t know a lot about this company but I've heard that they don't have a lot of classes available. However, even for teaching an hour the pay is great! Why not apply??
